Ana 2 N and A began care with me at 8 weeks along in their second pregnancy.  N had her first baby at a birthing center, and was looking forward to experiencing a home delivery this time.  A’s first labor was 35 hours long, so she anticipated this labor to be long as well. Two days past her estimated due date, N called me at 2 in the morning to let me know she was having contractions about every 10 minutes apart that have kept her awake.  I talked to her about letting me know when they were 5 minutes apart, but by the sound of her voice, I could tell things might pick up quickly.  I laid there in bed trying to go back to sleep, but in my gut knowing she would be calling soon.  At 245, N called back saying contractions were every 5 minutes.  In the 3 minutes we talked, she had twp contractions and threw up.  I could tell things were moving quickly.  I told N to have A blow up the birth pool and begin to fill it with hot water so that we would have that ready for her. I arrived at 340, finding N in her bath tub, kneeling.  Contractions seemed intense and close.  I checked her and found her to be 8cm.  We decided there was no time to finish filling the birthing pool with hot water, so N stayed in her bath tub. I quickly started to get my birth supplies together and organized.  I knew baby would be here soon and wasn’t sure my birth assistant would make it in time.  As 4am came, N exclaimed she was feeling pushy.  N moved into a semi reclining position, the intensity of the contractions building.  At4:12, she began to spontaneously push. At 4:20, N’s water broke spontaneously with a contraction, and with the rupture, we could see a small amount of baby’s head on the perineum.  Things were intense, but N was so strong and handled the intense, quick labor so well. At 429, the baby began to crown, followed by the head and baby four minutes later.  Sweet baby girl was immediately brought to her mama’s chest. Ana 1 Birth was intense, tough, but so gentle and peaceful.  Baby latched to the breast right away, never having an issue getting breastfeeding down. Welcome to the world sweet Ana!  Born on January 31, 2015 at 434am, weighing in at 8lbs, 12ozs, 21.5 inches long.  Ana is so loved by her parents and sweet big brother so much.  Blessed to have been part of Ana’s birth journey.
