Shannon just helped me deliver my 4th baby a couple days ago. This was my first home birth and because it also happened to be my first vbac, I really had high hopes for this delivery. It was just what I wanted, truly. It was peaceful and supported. My care leading up to delivery was incredible too. I so appreciate the midwifery model of care in that Shannon worked hard to help me overcome some medical issues on the front end so that we could have a safe and happy home birth. She’s is an awesome midwife and had become a really sweet friend.  Amanda, Houston, mother of Joshua born February 12, 2016.

I’ve held off on writing this review because I had so many good things to say and I felt like I could never adequately express my appreciation for Shannon. This won’t be enough, but… Shannon is amazing. She is patient, caring, sweet, funny, knowledgeable, and professional.  The difference between her care and the care I received from my OB during my first pregnancy was night and day. I was never made to feel stupid for asking questions, I was never rushed, and I knew that she honestly cared about my birth.  Any mother would be lucky to have Shannon by their side to help her bring a new life into this world. Thank you for being there for me Shannon!  Angela, Spring, mother of Jane born May 11, 2015

Shannon is a wonderful midwife! I’ve done several births with her as a doula and just had my first home-birth with her as a patient. I will use her for any other births that come my way! So thankful for her support and knowledge and strength! Hunter, Cypress, mother of Ezra born March 20, 2015

For our first child, though my husband and I chose to give birth in a hospital, we knew that for our second child, we wanted to labor and deliver in the comfort of our own home. After spending weeks calling midwives and even interviewing a few, we found Shannon and immediately knew we had found our midwife! Shannon is not only EXTREMELY knowledgeable about childbirth (she even offers doula training), she is sweet, down to earth, and always makes you feel like you are her only patient! She made herself available to answer all of our questions-usually within an hour of us texting about something. She also hosts monthly group prenatal meetings for her clients where patients can come and learn about things such as breastfeeding and comfort techniques while getting to know Shannon and other soon-to-be mommas. VERY helpful!!  Physically, I was a lot healthier and stronger for this birth than I was with my first. After having me do some blood tests, Shannon recommended various vitamins and supplements to help strengthen parts of my system that were weak. At her recommendation, I started taking substantial amounts of Vitamin D in this pregnancy to help increase my pain tolerance (who knew??). I firmly believe that’s the reason why I was 9cm dilated in labor and didn’t even realize it! Shannon was also great during my actual labor and delivery. Her calm demeanor helped keep me focused and on track during the hard times. She was very empathetic and made me feel like she was right in there with me! Labor and delivery was MUCH easier on me and recovering has been a breeze! If you want a knowledgeable midwife who will take an interest in every aspect of your pregnancy-Shannon is the one you want!  Marie, Kingwood, mother of Armand born October 12, 2015

I could not be happier with Shannon. The care she provided to me during and after my pregnancy was exceptional and very personal. She made my husband and I feel at ease. I had a very pleasant labor and delivery – she was right there by my side and on top of everything. I am so thankful for her and would definitely choose her again as my midwife.  Jennifer, Houston, mother of Zaiden born November 8, 2014

Love love love Shannon!!! Even though we didn’t get the home birth we had planned for, we still got the VBAC we prayed for. Lots of cervical scar tissue due to c-section 5 years ago prevented natural dilation past 4 centimeters. Mom was exhausted and begged for relief. Ben Taub gave that relief with Shannon standing close by and less than 20 mins later momma was holding her sweet baby girl. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Next time WILL be a home birth though now that we know about the scar tissue and much of it has been broken up.  Brandon, spouse of Roseana born December 10, 2014

After having two very intervened hospital births that caused more harm than good, including a very traumatic c-section, I knew that if we were going to have more kids something had to change. I spent 5 years doing research about homebirth, VBAC and birth in general. I knew I had to do a 180 from the care I had been receiving. When we finally decided to try for another baby I wanted to make sure I had the best midwife in town to watch over my baby and I. I knew I was pregnant before I ever got the positive pregnancy test, and I spent that time researching midwives. And praying, lots and lots of praying. Somehow I just knew that Shannon was meant to be our midwife. She is so so knowledgeable, caring and personable. I always felt comfortable, and like I was visiting a friend.. Not reporting to a doctor. I was amazed at the level of care and the difference of mother-centered midwifery care vs care from a OB. I never felt rushed, and always had ample time to ask any questions. Shannon kept wonderful watch over my baby and I, and was a wonderful guide on this journey. She was able to easily read my personality and adapt her care to me and my needs. She knew, and respected, that I wanted this birth to be very different from my other two. When my birthing time came she was exactly what I needed her to be. She was wonderful about quietly entering my home and allowing me to labor uninterrupted. But she was always there, keeping watch over us and making sure everything was going as it should. Eventually we did have to transfer to the hospital because of some very stubborn cervical scar tissue. Shannon went with us to the hospital and stayed with me until my daughter decided to make her quite grand entrance a short time later (a VBAC!!). After the birth she continually checked up on us and helped me to process the birth. She helped with breastfeeding, and made sure that baby was doing well. I truly felt that I and my daughter were the only people that mattered to her at that time. Shannon is a wonderful mother, midwife, friend.. A truly remarkable person! And when the time comes that we will be welcoming another child into our home (it will!) … Shannon will be the first person I call! Roseana, Kingwood, mother of Sariah born December 10, 2014

I have been blessed with 6 children. This last one was my first outside a hospital. I have never had a midwife before, and after having had this experience with Shannon, I will never do this without a midwife again-preferably Shannon. Throughout my pregnancy & child birth, she has taken exceptional care of me and my child, both physically & emotionally. When complications arose after delivery, she handled them marvelously & worked hard so that I & my baby could stay home. She has not only become someone I trust as a professional, but a godly, encouraging, and wonderful friend. I will use her again & would recommend her without hesitation.  Stacy, Houston, mother of JJ born June 16, 2014
