It was both a pleasure and an honor to work with Shannon to welcome my fourth child, Samuel, into the world. Shannon is truly a gifted midwife. My 3 oldest children (9, 8, and 3 at the time of Samuel’s birth) were hospital born and while each experience was pleasant, I wanted something different for this pregnancy and ultimately decided on a homebirth with Shannon. Shannon’s passion for what she does is evident in every interaction with her and she is wise beyond her years when it comes to the birthing process. I especially appreciate the care and concern she showed not only to/for me and my unborn son, but to my whole family. Most office visits were a family affair and she patiently addressed countless questions and concerns from us all, to include my husband, the nurse. Shannon didn’t just tell me what I should or shouldn’t do; every moment was a teaching moment so that we could make the best decisions for our family. Samuel’s birth day will forever be etched into our family’s story in that everyone participated in the process. Most memorable is the fact that my 8 year old daughter was allowed to help “catch” her baby brother and my 9 year old son got to “cut the cord” something that they both will never forget.
